Here's what's happening for QFK............

We have a new brochure...E-mail me to send you one or more to have or pass along. There are also brochures at The Pine Needle in Lake Oswego and Quilting Delights in Clackamas, Oregon. It tells all about Quilts For Kids and has guidelines for making a quilt as well as our Angel with the Quilted Wings label. We hope to recruit many new quilters to pass along the wonderful experience of donating a quilt to a child in need.

Northwest Quilting Expo, September 26-28, 2003...Quilts For Kids will have a booth!! This event is becoming an important one in the quilting/sewing world...and for all those who enjoy seeing beautiful quilts and stopping by vendor's booths. Our booth will have our beautiful Community Raffle Quilt, "Have a Heart". It's a lovely blue and white quilt with appliqued hearts. We'll have a picture on the website the last of August. Tickets will be $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. They can be purchased at The Pine Needle or Quilting Delights until the date of the Expo, and at our booth the weekend of September 26-28. There will also be a representative from CARES Northwest as well as one from QFK in our booth to answer any questions. Come see us and buy lots of raffle tickets!

4th annual Quilts That Care Luncheon....Held December 4th, starting at 11:30 at The Tualatin Country Club in Tualatin, Oregon. We will have six raffle quilts that will be won by someone at the luncheon, as well as ten gorgeous auction quilts!! These quilts have to seen to be believed! The generous, accomplished quilters who made and donated the quilts will be present. We have a professional auctioneer who is fabulous! She makes the auction so much fun for all of us. In addition to the raffle and auction quilts, each table will have a silent auction for the centerpiece: wonderful decorative teapots with beautiful, handmade tea cozies. Proceeds from this event are split 50/50 between CARES NW and QFK. Tickets for this wonderful Christmas luncheon go on sale the 1st of September and can be purchased for $40.00. As of the end of July, 1,895 quilts have been taken to CARES NW to be given to children who are victims of sexual and physical abuse and/or severe neglect. My goal is to pass the 2000 mark this year, and I know it will be done. October 15th is the date of our annual Angel Appreciation Party. It will be held at The Pine Needle and representatives of CARES NW will be there with stories of the children and how much these quilts mean to them. The tissue box has to be passed around, believe me. The Christmas drive is also kicked off that night with kits available to anyone who will make a quilt before December 15. Last year our volunteers brought 220 quilts that I took to CARES NW before Christmas!! Our goal this year is 250, and YOU CAN HELP!! Send an e-mail to find out how.
